Tienes un joven en 7th grade? Magnifica oportunidad TAFT summer auspiciado por PAL

THE FRAN CIVITELLO/WATERBURY PAL TAFT SUMMER SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
Fran Civitello was the Parts Manager at Bradshaw Jeep in Oakville, CT for many years, and died unexpectedly
in May 2009. In conjunction with Bradshaw Jeep this scholarship has been renamed in his honor.

Waterbury PAL is looking for two 7th grade Waterbury School students to attend the Taft Summer School Program. The scholarship winners will attend the Taft boarding school in Watertown overnight from June 26 to July 30, 2011 free of charge. PAL will additionally assist the scholarship winners with applying to attend Taft after the successful completion of the summer program. Applicants must be 12 years old by 6/1/11 to apply for this scholarship.


How to apply for this scholarship:

     1.  Be an active PAL member or become one prior to applying for this scholarship by coming to
64 Division                 Street
and signing up. Be a current 7th grade student in a Waterbury School. The office is open from Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 4:30pm.  The cost is $25 a year to become a member of PAL. Keep the receipt indicating you are a member, it will be needed later.
     2. Write an essay of at least 100 words explaining why you should be selected to attend the Taft Summer School Program.
     3. Submit a recommendation from an English and Math teacher.
     4. Provide a copy of your student biographical inquiry, student absence inquiry, student academic inquiry, student discipline inquiry and school record. Your guidance counselor can provide you with this information and should include your grades for 6th and 7th grade.

Applicants must bring proof of PAL membership, completed essay, teacher recommendation and records from your guidance counselor to the PAL office before the scholarship deadline of February 14, 2011 at 4pm. Applicants may be required to meet with the Committee for an interview. Two winners will be chosen by committee based on the application, essay, interview, teacher recommendation and grades.
